This is so random, but it was so much fun, I just had to post something. I've had a massive headcold lately, right? And the other night, I couldn't go to sleep for anything. So I'm sitting at the computer and I hear my son upstairs in his room. So I go up and he's like, "Mommy, what are you doing up?" And I told him mommy's sick and can't sleep. He asks if he can have a snack and a drink of water. We come back downstairs and I got him a couple cookies and a glass of water and we turn on Nick Jr and sit in the armchair and rock for a little bit while he has his snack. Then he gets up, runs into the other room and grabs this orange and black slinky he got from my aunt for halloween. "Can I play with this, mommy?" I grab the slinky and say, "Check this out." And we go over to the stairs and I show him how a slinky can "walk" down the stairs and he flipped out. He was so excited! So he takes the slinky all the way to the top of the stairs and let it go. I waited at the bottom and then would toss it back up to him. I was really impressed with how good he was at making it go. I know some adults that can't make a slinky work and my 3 year old was doing it like a pro.
I know most people wouldn't be very impressed, but it was fun. He isn't always the easiest little boy to get along with and it was nice to have some time with just him where he wasn't throwing a fit. Probably not a big deal to most, but for a sick mom who's usually at her wit's end, it was a really peaceful, fun night. I really do love that kid.
